final paper for intro to literature

Our text explains that “A playwright had to please all members of the audience, not only the mannered and education” (P1286). Think about that idea because it may help you with your ideas for the final exam question.

Reread the section preceding the play called “A Note on Othello” (P1287). One point this section makes is that “It is a safe bet that it [Othello] will triumphantly live as long as fathers dislike whomever their daughters marry, as long as husbands suspect their wives of cheating, as long as blacks remember slavery, and as long as the ambitious court favor and the jealous practice deceit.”

With that in mind, establish a thesis and compose a two to three page essay explaining how/why this drama may have “pleased” members of the audience of its time and/or how/why it still relates to a wide audience today.

Again, this should be your ideas, so your only source should be the text itself (although you can use any ideas from the text, not just the play itself, as long a you cite them in your essay). MLA format applies just as it did in our other essays for the course, and remember the section that went over writing about drama and quoting from a play.
